The finish line for 2014 is in sight. What are you doing to motivate your team to finish strong?

Now is the time to coach your team into making a strong finish for the 2014 calendar year. The fourth quarter has many of us burning the candle at both ends. Some see that the end is in sight and others do not think they have another minute to give. Though it’s tempting to slow down as the holiday season gears up, we can use the energy of the season to finish the year strong. Inspire your team to give just a little bit more of themselves and put your team in position to start 2015 with a bang!

So how do you do this? According to Sam Parker, author of 212: The Extra Degree, it’s all about giving one more degree of effort. If you have two cups of water, one at 211° and one at 212°, if you were able to put your finger in the cups, you wouldn’t be able to tell the difference. Water at 211° is hot and you can make tea. At 212°, however, water is boiling and can generate steam to power a locomotive. His point? Seemingly small things can make a huge difference.

Sam Parker notes, “By taking risks, we assure ourselves that life isn’t wasted on living.” This month, we’re introducing you to The December Challenge. We want you to find and tap into the passion of your team members. Ignite their passion this month and see that extra degree of effort emerge.

What small things can you do with your team to get that all-important extra degree on the way to the finish line?
